About Me
I am a Certified Psychoanalyst and psychotherapist committed to helping individuals, couples, children, and families achieve greater peace, clarity, and fulfillment in their lives. My therapeutic approach is gentle, pragmatic, and deeply respectful of each client's unique experiences and values.
Fluent in both English and Arabic, I offer psychotherapy tailored to clients across all age groups—children, adolescents, and adults. My practice integrates psychoanalytic methods with evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Relational Frame Theory, mindfulness-based techniques, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT).
Professional Experience
I maintain a private practice in Manhattan, providing both in-person and online therapy. In addition, I am the Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging and a psychoanalytic supervisor at the Institute for Expressive Analysis.
Prior to my career in mental health, I spent fourteen years at the United Nations as a political affairs officer in the Department of Peace Operations. This experience has profoundly shaped my compassionate and culturally sensitive approach to psychotherapy.
Advocacy and Professional Affiliations
My dedication extends beyond clinical practice into mental health advocacy and education. I co-founded the Palestine-Global Mental Health Network, where I remain an active steering committee member. I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Gaza Mental Health Foundation and the Institute for Expressive Analysis. Additionally, I am involved with the American Psychological Association (APA), Division 39, Section V: Applied Clinical Psychoanalysis, and previously served on the board of APA Division 39, Section IX: Psychoanalysis for Social Responsibility.
Education
My academic credentials include a Doctorate in Psychoanalytic Studies from the Parkmore Institute, Master's degrees from New York University and the London School of Economics and Political Science, and research experience at Teachers College, Columbia University. Additionally, I hold certifications in adult psychoanalysis from the Institute for Expressive Analysis and child and adolescent psychotherapy from the William Alanson White Institute for Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis.
My Clients
Clients seek my support for various concerns, including anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, or a general sense of uncertainty. I specialize in helping couples enhance their communication and intimacy, and work closely with children, employing techniques such as play therapy to support emotional growth and resilience.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that each person genuinely strives to achieve their fullest potential. My goal is to help every client cultivate a joyful, peaceful, and meaningful life.
